Studio 4 - Elaoise Benson
Elaoise Benson is a painter, curator, and performer. Having graduated with a BA in Fine Art from UAL, Central Saint Martins in 2022, Bensons' work explores the intersections of feminism, grief, and environmentalism. Drawing inspiration from the Somerset landscape, her abstract painting practice reflects the liminality of nature. Elaoise Benson was awarded the Kate Barton Prize for Painting in 2022 and has exhibited across the UK including in London, Bristol, Exeter, and Sheffield.
Elaoise is the host of East Quay's monthly Spoken Word nights. Her movement and spoken word performances are a mode of self-discovery and spiritual reconnection. Benson asks her audience to witness her pain and to think about how we can move more empathetically in the world.
Benson had her first duo show, The Woods Echo Out to Us, in October 2023 in Studio 10. The show explored her connection with the woodland, and whether empathy can be its own form of environmental protest.
