Situated on a platform above the second floor of East Quay, the inspiration for this pod comes from Watchet’s industrial past as a hard-working maritime town, which has a rich history of paper making.
This pod sleeps two and shines a spotlight on Watchet’s industrial past, with a 1930s ocean liner vibe. Enjoy our unparalleled views out to sea while relaxing in bed, or even while soaking in the bath from the tub on the mezzanine floor, at the highest point on East Quay.
It is a split level studio, on the first level is a small kitchen complete with an integrated fridge, sink, and kettle, and toaster for simple meals. Of course, you can always head downstairs to East Quay Kitchen for a delicious breakfast, lunch, or snack.
The beautifully finished bathroom is complete with toilet and sink, while the mezzanine level hosts a bespoke full-size bath with views out to sea.
Tucked into the corner is a standard double bed, with luxury organic bedlinen and an organic wool duvet, on top of a luxury natural mattress
Please note that this pod may not be suitable for all guests due to the very steep stairs. It is not suitable for travellers with mobility issues or children.
The photos on the wall at the foot of the bed are of Watchet’s Wansbrough Paper Mill, taken by resident East Quay photographer, Glyn Jarrett in the last weeks of its operation before closure at the end of 2015. The chair upstairs came from nearby Wellington theatre. Contemporary industry is referenced in the hand-made furniture, including the concrete-cast wash basin, built by the pod’s structural engineer, and individually-crafted kitchen units, both made by the project architects using hand-felled ash and cherry from their Herefordshire farm.
