SUSTAINABLE TEXTILE CLUB

Come and enjoy a relaxed social atmosphere of mending whilst learning different textile techniques, chatting and having a drink.

Each session there is a different focus and materials available to use. There will be a supportive East Quay member of staff to help and advise and give ideas. You are welcome to bring your own textile projects with you to continue with also.

When: Second Tuesday of every month

Time: 6.30-7.30pm

Where: East Quay Kitchen

Who: No sewing experience necessary

Cost: Free*

*This is a free event but donations to Contains Art are welcomed to cover the cost for materials.

Session 9 : 10.09.2024

Make patches for clothes

(Bring if you would like scraps of fabric, bits of felt, embroidery thread)

Session 10 : 08.10.2024

Sashiko mending

(Bring if you would like an item of textiles that needs to be mended, maybe an denim item, scraps of fabric or denim scraps, embroidery threads)

Session 11 : 12.11.2024

Darning knitted garments

(Bring if you would like tapestry needle (blunt needle with big eye), yarns, crochet hooks)

Session 12 : 10.12.2024

Christmas decorations made from fabric scraps
