Spoken Word Night November

Come and join our informal spoken word evenings held once a month in the East Quay Kitchen, hosted by Elaoise Benson.

This month, our guest speaker is Graeme Ryan. Graeme lives in West Somerset and is the author of seven full-length plays. He has read widely in the South West and his first full collection of poetry Valley of the Kings came out in 2022. He won the Teignmouth Poetry Competition in 2018 and has been placed in numerous poetry competitions since. He has also been the judge for a variety of writing competitions and inaugurated The Page is Printed at The Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre in Taunton. He is a member of Fire River Poets and regularly MC’s their live events.

The Open Mic invitational theme is - Gifts of the Unknown. What unexpected things, gifts, or beautiful moments have you encountered? 

You are invited to come and share any poetry, stories or words that shed light on salient moments in life, explore connections with yourself, each other and relationships to our wider kin.

Don’t worry if you’re not ready to speak; you are more than welcome to just come along and listen, bring friends along or meet new people here.
