January's theme: Mistakes I'd Make Again
Our informal Spoken Word evenings are held once a month in the East Quay Kitchen, and hosted by Elaoise Benson. You are invited to come and share any poetry, stories or words that shed light on salient moments in life, explore connections with yourself, each other and relationships to our wider kin. Don’t worry if you’re not ready to speak; you are more than welcome to just come along and listen, bring friends along or meet new people here.
January's guest speaker is Deanna Payne. Deanna is an emerging poet and artist living and working in Watchet. Deanna's writing explores a variety of subject matter including mental health, gender, body positivity, disability and belonging. Her witty and colourful spoken word brings old folklore and tradition into the modern day, it will likely make you both laugh and cry. Deanna exhibited with East Quay in 2021 and is currently writing and illustrating her new poetry collection: What The Ocean Saw.
The bar will be open for drinks and snacks.
